So this is about the most waited for dish at my family’s Thanksgiving EVERY Year! My Granny J had 6 children, and for Thanksgiving they were all in charge of 1 thing. Nita (my Mama’s next older sister) was in charge of making this every year. Well, there was that one year that noone knew [...] Will resume when I emerge from underneath Black Friday Weekend. Ok, gentle readers. I am still in quite a tizzy from Thanksgiving and all the mess that is Black Friday and working in retail. We will return to our regular programing tomorrow. In the mean time: Ok, y’all. I know that I said that I was gonna start posting all my Thanksgiving recipes. And today’s eas gonna be Aunt Nita’s Sweet Potato Casserole. Well, I just cooked fish–for the first time–and have to write about it. I will probably give y’all Nita’s Sweet Potato recipe too, since everyone is waiting for [...] My Granny J My Granny J was an amazing woman. I could blog for years stories about her. I have got hundreds of stories about Granny J, from saving my life many times (literally) to falling asleep in fried rice. Granny and I had a very special relationship. Born about 70 years ago, Granny J [...] Okay, I love Oreo Cookies. And Pies. So there is only one thing that could make me happiest: Oreo Pie. I used to work at a deli in Montgomery named Chappy’s Deli. They had an Oreo Pie there that I just loved. My stepmom used to make this Oreo Pie, and dare I say…it’s better. [...] Ok, it’s that time of year again, y’all. Now I am going to start giving up all my favorite Thanksgiving recipes. The first recipe is my own Peach Cobbler. Peach Cobbler is a dessert that is so easy and so good, you HAVE to make this. Being raised in Alabama, we have peaches in Chilton County, [...] I know you really have no idea what that heading means, but there exists, in my family, a dessert called ‘Tater Puddin’. My Big Mama (who was a Choctaw Indian) apparently made the world’s best Tater Pudding. I have only had hers, and yeah it is good, but I have nothing to compare it against. [...] |
