Ok, so I have to come clean. I have not perfected my Mac and Cheese recipe. I know, I know, I’m Southern, and I should be able to do this. But I can’t seem to figure out my mix of ingredients. Now, every version I try is good, but not what I want it to be.
Here is my BASE recipe. My roommate Kacy hates the texture of eggs, and so he just spit this out when he ate it. It bakes up pretty much as a macaroni quiche.
Help me!
14 ounces Macaroni
1 stick Butter
6 Eggs
4 cups milk
1 pound cheddar cheese (Shredded)
1 teaspoon salt
Cook macaroni, combine ingredients and bake at 325 for 40 minutes.
What do I do to this? Breadcrumbs? tried it. Onions? tried it. Kacy hated that one too…. HELP!!!

Nope, nope, nope. Put about 2 tablespoons of panko breadcrumbs in (I know, it seems like there should be more) when you’re mixing it. My mother in law pours the egg on hers as soon as she takes it out of the oven, claiming the heat cooks it (but you know me and my food spoilage issues…). 6 eggs seems like too many. That’s how many I use in my breakfast casserole. Try just crumbs and see what that does. Please don’t make Kacy hurl.
dink the eggs – make a roux of flour and butter with a little salt and pepper, teensy bit of dried mustard, and milk, then add the cheese in to melt it. i can send you my recipe if you want!
it does have breadcrumbs and it’s yummy.
i really wish i could help… but all i can say is,
i.love.eggs. if you talk about egg related recipes around me and sandy, we will melt. it would be nice to see a recipe with the main ingredient… or the spotlight on eggs~~~~~~~~~~~~!!
